About

The Echo of Life: Our Foundational "Why"

Catholic Dads HQ is more than a platform; it is the echo of a life. This mission did not begin in a classroom or a clinic, but the exact moment I first knew my daughters were coming into the world. In that humbling flash of realization, I understood that fatherhood is a sacred custody—that our children first learn the depth of God’s love through the love of their parents.

A footprint of a father merely marks where a man has been, but an echo carries his being across the vast expanse of eternity. This ministry is my contribution, a deliberate soundwave of faith, healing, and servant leadership meant to ripple through my daughters' lives, into their children, and out into the lives of every person we touch. To look upon the personal reflections, sacred milestones, and the quiet places that set this eternal echo in motion, we invite you to consider the echo you are leaving in the lives of others. Also, we invite you to view a brief beginning in time of one vocation and "Papa Duty" journey.

Our History and Heritage

Founded in 2004 by Edward L. De La Loza, EdD, LCSW, Catholic Dads HQ was born from a deeply personal calling. Inspired by the interweaving of developing Catholic faith, an enduring love for his daughters, and the spiritual legacy of St. Ignatius of Loyola—founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits)—Dr. De La Loza envisioned a beacon for fathers. By grounding the platform in this heritage, he drew upon the largest male religious order within the Roman Catholic Church, renowned globally for its intellectual rigor, education, and commitment to social justice. Rooted in the firm belief that "the journey of faith starts with a humble heart," this platform continues to support Catholic dads as they integrate faith, family, and spiritual growth.

Now, over two decades later, Catholic Dads HQ has evolved to meet the needs of today's fathers. We provide relevant content through social media, promoting concepts like #SpiritDirectedNeuroplasticity, neuroplasticity, and neurotheology, while connecting dads with a global network of professional therapists dedicated to providing help and enriching their Catholic faith. This vital service, currently available only to fathers in California, is proudly provided and supported by Mental Health 365, Inc., a dedicated organization committed to assisting fathers in their ongoing development across Seven Dimensions of Transformational Living (e.g., spiritual, relational, professional), helping them become true servant leaders. While our direct therapy services are currently limited to California, we hold a global vision to expand this network, connecting fathers with qualified therapists in other regions as our reach grows.

Our Mission

Catholic Dads HQ provides content that supports, educates, empowers, and guides Catholic fathers in their vital mission. We encourage dads to be:

  • Informed by a dynamic tradition and devoted to their children's faith formation.
  • Committed to understanding their children better through relevant research and clarifying their own values.
  • Equipped to be emotionally intelligent servant leaders within their families and communities.
  • Inspired to rely on their faith as the foundation for the insight, emotional awareness, and strategies needed to achieve their personal and professional goals.

A father's calling is unique and vital. It requires a clear mind to understand his purpose and a deep faith to guide his children toward a transformative relationship with Christ. As a dad's confidence and competence grow, his children are inspired to navigate and overcome the challenges they face.

Whether you are married, separated, divorced, parenting from a distance, or a grandfather, Catholic Dads HQ offers resources and professional support that respect Catholic beliefs. We are committed to revealing God's glorious purpose in the lives of dads worldwide, helping them to live a life beyond self.

As our inspiration, St. Ignatius of Loyola, said: "Go forth and set the world on fire."

Now, Consider the Next Faithful Step

Every father’s next step may look different. Some begin with prayerful formation, some grow best in community, and some benefit from professional guidance. Wherever you are, begin with the next faithful step.

Step 1: Begin with Formation

If you are new to Catholic Dads HQ, we invite you to begin with the Catholic Dads Spiritual Triathlon, a simple three-day formation pathway for fathers seeking to grow in faith, clarity, emotional awareness, and servant leadership.

Begin with Day 1: Trusting Providence, then continue through the remaining reflections and the Catholic Dads Spiritual Triathlon Quiz.

Download the free Catholic Dads Spiritual Triathlon resources here.

Step 2: Grow in Fellowship

True leadership is not cultivated in isolation. Join a growing fellowship of Catholic fathers as we explore relevant psychological research, emotional intelligence, and the inner life of fatherhood through a Catholic lens.

We will be reviewing the bestselling classic Parenting from the Inside Out: How a Deeper Self-Understanding Can Help You Raise Children Who Thrive by Daniel J. Siegel, M.D., and Mary Hartzell, M.Ed. Together, we will explore interpersonal neurobiology, reflect on how our own stories shape our parenting, and learn practical ways to raise compassionate, resilient children.

This book will be read through the lens of Catholic fatherhood, with attention to faith, virtue, family life, and the dignity of the child.

Register your interest for the Catholic Dads Book Club here (and indicate your preferred day and time).
Starting September 2026.

Step 3: Seek Personal Support

Some fathers may recognize that they need more personal, tailored guidance. If you are carrying stress, discouragement, family strain, anger, burnout, or a desire to grow through professional support, you may be ready to take the next step with a qualified therapist.

Schedule an appointment with a therapist at CatholicTherapists.com.

For medical guidance, you may also connect with a Catholic physician through MyCatholicDoctor.com or use the Catholic Physician Search offered by the Catholic Medical Association to identify Catholic physicians by state and specialty.

These resources are offered to support fathers in their growth and discernment. They do not replace the sacramental life of the Church, spiritual direction, emergency care, or medical advice from a qualified professional.

Finally, if you need to speak with a local Catholic Priest, a nearby parish may be closer than you think. Check out the app, Catholic Mass Times: The world's most popular app for locating nearby Catholic churches and Mass times. Free Download

"God’s love calls us to move beyond  fear. We ask God for the courage to abandon ourselves unreservedly, so  that we might be molded by God’s grace, even as we can not see where  that path may lead us." —Ignatius of Loyola

"Teach us, Good Lord, to give and not count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for any reward save that of knowing that I do Thy will."

—Ignatius of Loyola
